"The courage to begin"
On January 7, 1968, twenty-one dedicated members gathered in the Town Hall on South Pebble Beach for the very first service of what would become the Presbyterian Church. Our first pastor, Reverend Paul E. Chalfant, was sent by the Presbytery of West Florida to establish this mission church in Sun City Center. By 1970, the church was formally organized with seventy-eight members, laying the foundation for our future.
Core values and community impact
Throughout our history, St. Andrew Church has been guided by core values centered on serving the community. We are proud to have started the Beth-El Mission for migrant farm workers in Wimauma, Florida. Every Wednesday, the Metropolitan Ministry of Tampa provides free hot meals in our fellowship hall, demonstrating our commitment to those in need. Weekly craft clubs bring people together, fostering connections, and our parish nurse offers free health services and seminars. St. Andrew Church is a Christian mission dedicated to supporting the community and helping all who need it, reflecting our enduring belief in active compassion and service.
